About Lawrence

As a generalist photographer Lawrence is fond of all types of photography. He particularly enjoys looking at illustrative still life for its mood and feel, and environmental portraits for its idea and authenticity. His major focus is on still life, and he is spontaneous in people photography. This skill comes in handy with event photography and real-time architectural shots.

His Style

Lawrence does work in styles, but he refuses to believe in having only one style. His work consists mostly of color product still and event portraitures. Though depends on what he shoots, he also utilize tungsten for its soft-focus warmth. Lawrence prefers to shoot on location, mainly trying to achieve the authentic look. He always try to photograph his subjects in a very compelling way, with images that capture their true essence. Either it is still life or portraiture; propping related items with subject could dramatically set the difference between good photographs and effective ones.

Lawrence’s personal work, however, has a very distinctive style. This style sets more as fine arts than anything else because of their abstract looks. And most are printed in black and white due to the use of mixed lighting.

His Philosophy

Lawrence approaches his clients with a business sense behind his photographic expertise. He understands clients’ busy schedules so he knows how to work within a limited time period. In addition to producing superb images, he will consistently deliver projects on time and on budget without any unwanted surprise. Basically, his business is built on cooperative working relationships with his clients. Capable of handling projects of all sizes, he provides whatever production services needed, including make-up, styling, location scouting, and casting. His basis to a successful client relationship is to always present his best effort and strive to exceed their expectations. As long as he is interested in opportunities to grow as a photographer, he will seek out any clients, and bring his problem-solving skills to them.

Lawrence believes in teamwork. He also believes that there are always steps and procedures that need to be organized. For example, a time line to keep track of projects’ schedules and precautions that need to be taken care of prior to location shoots.

With some of today’s new image capturing techniques and technology, Lawrence seasonally upgrades skills from workshops. “There is always something new to learn and plenty of room to grow creatively.”

“I believe in having a vision, and that vision can manifest itself in many different ways.”

“I believe in pre-visualizing, where I try to solve as many problems as possible in the camera. If I captured the images better, the prints will be better. Whenever possible, I would visualize the finished photograph. Aside from sketching down ideas, I often use a lot of my photographs that don’t quite satisfy me as preliminary investigations toward finished works. These photographs usually make me feel that there is something in them that is leading somewhere. And simply to try to differentiate.”
